Why is my LeagueSafe accreditation being expired?

The NRL has expired all existing LeagueSafe qualifications as we have a new and improved LeagueSafe course with new content to emphasise the important role you play in keeping Players safe, and how you can best contribute to providing a positive and fun environment on game day.

The new LeagueSafe course also contains important updated information on child safety and links to help you complete the Patrons of the Game child safety course, which is now compulsory for all patrons of the game (Coaches, Trainers, Referees, Administrators, and Volunteers) who interact in any way with participants under the age of 18.

When will my accreditation be expired?

ALL current LeagueSafe accreditations will be expired on the 26th of February 2024. To continue as a LeagueSafe trainer beyond this date you will need to complete the new and revised online course which is available now.

Who needs to complete the new LeagueSafe course?

ALL continuing and new LeagueSafe trainers MUST complete the new LeagueSafe course in order to be qualified as a LeagueSafe trainer in 2024.

LeagueSafe trainers working with participants under the age of 18 must also complete the Patrons of the Game child safety course before they are fully qualified as a LeagueSafe trainer.

Is there any cost involved?

No, the LeagueSafe and Child Safety – Patrons of the Game courses are free.

How long will the course take?

The LeagueSafe course consists of one online module which will take 5-10 minutes to complete.

The Patrons of the Game child safety course is also one online module which will take 10-15 minutes to complete.

What if I only completed LeagueSafe in the last year?

Because of the new LeagueSafe course content and important child safety information, you will still need to complete the new LeagueSafe course to be qualified in 2024.

How long will my new LeagueSafe accreditation last?

Your new LeagueSafe accreditation will last for 3 years.

What is the new child safety requirement?

If you interact with any participants under the age of 18 you will also need to complete a new Patrons of the Game child safety course. This course will help you to understand how to recognise child abuse and when and how to report it.

The NRL is a child safe organisation and all patrons of the game (Coaches, Trainers, Referees, Administrators, and Volunteers) who interact in any way with participants under the age of 18 are required to complete this course.
