Why is this course important?
This course will teach you how to help keep children and adolescents safe by recognising the signs of child abuse and understanding what to do when you believe that abuse may be occurring, including how to report abuse and the support services available to you.
Who needs to do this course?
All patrons of the game who interact in any way with participants under the age of 18 are required to complete this course.
Who are patrons of the game?
Coaches, sports trainers, match officials, administrators and club volunteers.
What if I am under 18?
Completion of this course in not mandatory for individuals under the age of 18, however, it is strongly encouraged as it provides knowledge and insight in keeping participants safe, support services available to you, and reporting process should you identify potential concerns.
Why do I have to do this course?
The NRL is a child safe organisation and is committed to promoting a safe environment for all children and young people. It is a requirement under our Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy that all patrons of the game must complete this course.

How long will the course take?
The course consists of one online module that will take 10 – 15 minutes to complete.
Do I need to complete the course more than once if I have multiple “patrons of the game” roles?
No. You only need to complete the Child Safety – Patrons of the Game course once even if you perform multiple roles within the game.
How long will my Child Safety – Patrons of the Game accreditation last?
Your Child Safety – Patrons of the Game accreditation will last for 2 years.

How do I enrol in the course?
Enrolment in the Patrons of the Game child safety course can be done in the NRL Learning Centre.
You will need to log in with your NRL Account and have access to your existing Member Profile (or create a new one if this is your first time participating in rugby league). You can find details about how to How to enrol in a course here.
