Permission Required: Association Admin or higher
  • Only Association Admin access and higher can amend a Player availability status.
  • If you are a Club Administrator, contact your Association for local protocol on making a Player available for match selection.

This article deals specifically with Player availability following an injury, or a Medical Clearance as required by state policies.  For suspensions, please see Competition Cases.

What is a Medical Clearance?

A Medical Clearance is a letter or form completed by the Player's treating physician stating the person is medically fit to participate in Rugby League.

Read on below for answers on who needs a Medical Clearance and the role of Administrator in the Return to Play process.

Why would a Player be unavailable to select for a match?

There are various reasons a Player may be unavailable to select in a match:

  • An online injury form has been completed which indicated the Player suffered a concussion/suspected concussion.  This will automatically mark a Player as unavailable until an NRL Community Head Injury/Concussion Medical Clearance has been completed by the Player's doctor and returned to the team's Sports Trainer.  Discuss best practice and local protocol with your Clubs for return of Concussion Medical Clearances so they are aware of timeframes and processes.
  • A Player's age is above age restrictions in your state, and they have been marked as unavailable.
  • The Player is suspended.
  • The Player has been marked as Unavailable due to another reason as outlined in relevant rugby league policies.

I've received an NRL Community Head Injury/Concussion Medical Clearance.  How do I make the Player available for match selection?

NOTE: Ensure to properly file the Player's Medical Clearance following local protocol and best practice for private and confidential documents.

Step 1 - Login to admin.mysideline.com.au and open your Association level Dashboard

Step 2 - Scroll down the left-hand page menu and select Competition Cases (under COMPETITION MANAGEMENT).

Step 3 - From the Competition Cases screen, select Injury, and use the Search feature to find the participant's name (as required).

Step 4 - Click on the relevant Injury Report Case for the Player and it will open the Injury Case Details.

      • The Player may have had more than one injury, so ensure to select the correct record (generally the most recent).  If you select the incorrect record, you can click CANCEL then follow from Step 3.

Step 5 - Scroll to the bottom of the Case Details and update the AVAILABILTY drop-down to Available.

Step 6 - Add in any relevant Admin Notes, such as when Medical Clearance was received.

Step 7 - Click SAVE.
