Clearances & Permits 

Description

A Clearance is the movement of a player/match official from one club/association to another and is mandatory for every player and match official who wishes to change clubs/associations.

A Permit is the process required for a player/match official to participate between two clubs/associations in the same season. (Only if a pre-existing agreement is in place by the Governing Bodies.)

Who is Responsible?

A.      The Club/association is responsible for checking if the player/match official has participated before and then to initiate the clearance

B.      The Association is responsible to either approve or deny the clearance for a player and to apply  development fees if required

C.      Once approved into the new club/association, the participant/parent is responsible for logging into MySideline and finalising the registration to the new club/association. 

When should this process be completed

• When a player/match official decides to change clubs/associations or if a club has contracted a player for the new season.
• Clearances open once the MySideline registration system has been rolled over to the new season and close 30th June. 

Pre-requisites

Administrators managing clearances will require

• Education on MySideline by NRL staff
• Have appropriate access to MySideline
• Be familiar with the National Clearance and Permits Policy 

Effort for Implementation

Initiating a clearance or permit should take no more than 1 minute 

Benefits

Recording the movement of players provides:

• Data to assess player pathways and movement of players between areas within Australia as well as overseas
• Clubs with an avenue to collect outstanding fees or the return of club property prior to a player leaving the club
• Forms part of the player’s footprint in the game
